U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet will give the keynote address at the Colorado Mesa University May 2018 Commencement ceremony when 1,369 degrees will be award to 1,275 CMU students. This is the largest graduating class in CMU history.

Bennet was elected United States senator for Colorado in November 2010. Before his appointment to the Senate in 2009 and subsequent election to a full six-year term in 2010, he served as superintendent of Denver Public Schools. Prior to his time at the Denver Public Schools, he served as Chief of Staff to then-Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper. He was also managing director at the Anschutz Investment Company.
Bennet earned his bachelor's degree with honors from Wesleyan University and his law degree from Yale Law School, where he was Editor-in-Chief of The Yale Law Journal. He married Susan Daggett, a successful natural resources lawyer, in 1997, and they are the proud parents of three daughters.
The CMU Associated Student Government President Ben Linzey, who is graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, will speak to his fellow graduates.
Originally from California, Linzey has served as ASG student body president for almost two years. His plans include serving “the community through caring for others at St. Mary’s Hospital,” he said. During his four years at CMU, he has been a student Ambassador and a resident assistant as well as a student government leader.
